Commissioner MacDonald noted there was no formal report at this time. He noted that he has a meeting with the NSSBA this week and will express any concerns brought forward by fellow Board members. He also spoke with regards to the initiatives which were noted through Lead & Achieve.





a) Commissioner Bain - Boularderie School: Commissioner Bain recognized the hard work and diligent efforts of the Maintenance Department of the Board during the recent fire at the school.



Mr. Peach noted that there was no correspondence.



Superintendent Davis reviewed his report with those in attendance. Highlights of the report included the Strategic Plan which is now being distributed throughout the Board. Mr. Davis noted that the integration of the "Strategic Plan" and the "Business Plan" allows for all of the planning to come together. Activities throughout the month of February are taking place with regards to African Heritage Month. The signing of the Proclamation for both the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and Victoria County on Monday, February 2, 2004. Occupational Health & Safety was discussed and its role throughout the Board. It was noted that the Board website contains the complete text of the Superintendent's report.



Mr. Jim Burton reviewed his report with those in attendance. Highlights of the report included Education Week. The theme this year is Science: Question, Investigate, Discover! Education week is April 18-24, 2004. The month of February is dedicated to African Heritage. Youth Pathways and Transition Strategy was discussed with regards to Memorial Composite High School.
