Material:
Round circular plastic cover -- tape -- coil wire -- block of wood -- glue --
nails/hammer -- bobbie-pin -- compass
Note:  A Galvanoscope Detects Electric Current
Method:
1) Take the circular cover and wrap the tape around it with the sticky part of the tape facing out.
2) Coil the wire around the plastic cover (in the middle) about 25 times.
3) Wrap an additional piece of tape over the coil of wire.
4) Magnetize the bobbie-pin and hang it inside the plastic cover by a thin thread, using a little glue.
5) Glue the cover to the block of wood.
6) Remove the plastic insulation from the ends of two pieces of wire and the ends of the wire coil. Attach one wire to each end of the wire coil.
7) Insert two small nails into the wood block. Wrap the wire ends round the nails.
8) Join these wires to the battery.
The compass (or bobbie-pin) moves. If there is current, the magnetized bobbie-pin will move when wire contact is made or broken.
