WELCOME TO OUR RESEARCH GROUP! :) Sydney Academy Song Writers is a research group comprised of student musicians from Sydney Academy who have an interest in writing songs and participating in social science research as interviewers and discussion leaders on the topic of school engagement through music making. Our group meets once a week after school to write songs and share song writing tips. But that’s not all. We perform in the school and larger community, record in studio, and talk about the whole process with others. Our research methods and methodology have received full ethical approval from the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board, the University of Prince Edward Island Research Ethics Board, and the UPEI PhD Committee of our music teacher, Ms. Lorway.
