Angus MacAskill.   Research of the well known Cape Breton Giant, Angus Mac Askill was fun to do. This man's gravesite is still a popular tourist attraction in Englishtown, Cape Breton.

Family trees are always a good idea for heritage projects. This first place winner depicts both sides of the family tree. One side brags of having one of the oldest businesses in Sydney Mines and the other brags of having the first set of quintuplets in Nova Scotia's history.

Pioneer Homes and Cabins.  The construction of pioneer homes is a project which has traditionally become a part of the grade 4 celebration of PIONEER DAY. This celebration is a part of their social studies program.

The Celtic ties of Cape Breton to Scotland
were apparent in many of the projects grades 4-6. This depiction of one family's
Scottish heritage was a winner at the
grade 6 level.
