THE NEW WATERFORD FAMILY OF SCHOOLS – SCHOOL REVIEW PROCESS
In accordance with the provincial school review policy, the New Waterford Family of Schools School Options Committee will hold the first of three public meetings on Monday, October 26th at Breton Education Centre at 6:30 PM.
The purpose of the first public meeting is to provide an explanation of the School Review Process including:
- The mandate of the School options committee
- Work to date
- The terms of reference and time frames that will guide the work of the School Options Committee
- The options provided by the Board for consideration by the Committee
- The identification of schools that could potentially close from within the Northside Family of Schools
The second public meeting will be held in November to share with the public the deliberations of School Options Committee on the Board options and alternative scenarios generated by the School Options Committee.
During the third public meeting to be held in January, the recommendations of the committee with respect to schools identified for potential closure will be shared with the public. Participation by the public at the third meeting will ensure that public input presented at the meeting will be represented in the final written report of the New Waterford School Options Committee to the Board in mid-February.
At each of these public meetings, an opportunity to provide feedback to the SOC will be provided.
