Introducing the Nova Scotia Homework Hub
What is the Nova Scotia Homework Hub?
The Nova Scotia Homework Hub is an exciting new online platform that offers resources and free tutoring for students enrolled in grade 10 mathematics courses. Students can have a 1:1 session with a tutor, in French or English, via an online whiteboard, or by calling in on the phone. Students can also access additional learning resources that include video lessons, practice exercises, quizzes with instant feedback, digital versions of the mathematics textbooks, where available, and a graphing calculator.
How do students and teachers access the Nova Scotia Homework Hub?
They can login to their gnspes account and click on the Homework Hub icon. Students and teachers of Mathematics 10, Mathematics at Work 10, or Mathematics Essentials 10 have Nova Scotia Homework Hub access at this time.
What will teachers find on the Nova Scotia Homework Hub?
Teachers will find the same resources that students can see. They can suggest videos or exercises for additional student practice to support out of class study if they wish. In addition, teachers can share how the Nova Scotia Homework Hub works with their students by showing this video, .
What can a student expect from a tutoring session?
Students will have access to tutors from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday to Thursday. Each tutoring session is a maximum of 20 minutes, although this can be extended by the tutor as needed. All tutors are qualified Nova Scotia teachers. Students can use a textbox and audio with the tutor. There is no limit to the number of times a student can access a tutor. Tutors will not do homework for students, but will help to support them in their learning.
Tutors are also able to clarify important concepts introduced in the classroom.
Tutoring and resources are available beginning October 19, 2016
