Nova Scotia Aspiring Leaders Program (ALP)

March 22nd, 2016

To All Administrators:

Enclosed please find copies of a brochure to share with your staff regarding the Nova Scotia Aspiring Leaders Program (ALP).

This program is offered by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, in partnership with the Educational Leadership Consortium of Nova Scotia (NSELC) and Nova Scotia's school boards.

The ALP is a professional learning opportunity developed in response to a priority identified by school boards, and to meet the commitment to teaching and educational leadership outlined in Nova Scotia's Action Plan for Education.

The program is designed to support teachers, mentors and school board consultants who are interested in becoming effective school principals and/or vice principals.

The ALP extends over 13 months beginning in August 2016 and includes two summer institutes and seven Friday/Saturday seminars. An eight-day residency program will be integrated throughout the program. A certificate is granted following a culminating assessment and successful completion of all program components.

An online applications will be available through the board web page until the April 15, 2016 deadline. Candidate selection will be based on identified criteria and an interview by a panel of school board personnel.

Thank you for sharing information on the ALP with staff members in your school.
