CAPE BRETON-VICTORIA REGIONAL SCHOOL BOARD CELEBRATES NEW GLACE BAY SCHOOL WITH SOD-TURNING CEREMONY
Sydney, NS; After a lot of hard work and planning, the residents of Glace Bay are celebrating as construction begins in the spring of 2009, on a new $16-million dollar Jr. High School. Premier Rodney MacDonald, Education Minister Karen Casey, Mayor John Morgan, Superintendent Ed Davis, MLA Dave Wilson and Myrtle Turnbull-Campbell, Chair of the CBVRSB Management Committee joined school, board and community representatives today to launch the construction of a junior high school in Glace Bay. The new two-storey school will be 75,000 square feet in size, and will accommodate up to 650 students from Grades 7-9. The new school will replace two existing older schools, Morrison Jr. High and St. Michael's Jr. High. The school scheduled for completion in the fall of 2010, will be constructed on Wallace Road in Glace
