Discipline Policy

Students attending Oceanview Education Center will be provided with learning experiences designed to develop academic, social, and physical skills consistent with community expectations and those enunciated by the Department of Education.

Each person in the school community has the right to learn; to be heard; to be safe; to privacy; and to participate in the educational program regardless of race, colour, national origin, religion, sex, mental or physical ability. The personnel of Oceanview Education Centerwill strive to model and promote those behaviors and responsibilities which are valued in the community and which promote a positive learning environment.

The following includes what behaviors are considered appropriate, provide reasons for these behaviors, and establish consequences for inappropriate behavior.

It is hoped that the policy will teach students to take responsibility for their actions and encourage self-discipline.

Consequences of Inappropriate Behavior

The consequences of inappropriate behavior must reflect the level of seriousness of the behavior. Each case must be dealt with quickly, fairly, and with due process. Every effort must be made to have the student recognize the inappropriateness of the behavior.
