Concepts: individuality, word processing, technology
Materials: digital camera and computer
Activity time: 15 minutes per student, ongoing all day
I am going to use this idea at our registration day prior to the start of school. The students will be visiting my room with their parents to sign forms, meet me, etc... I wanted an activity that would give the students something to do as their parents were filling out forms. I also wanted a GREAT back to school display that will help us to learn about each other.
I created a template on my wordprocessor that says:
WANTED! in large caps across the top. Under that are a list of prompts for the student to complete.
Most likely seen doing:
Might be seen carrying a:
Possibly whistling this song:
Last seen: (Name of Last Years teacher)'s Class
The students will follow the instructions and fill out all fields. I will take a picture of each of them with the digital camera and import it into the document below the word "WANTED". The students will then print out their "Wanted" poster and I will laminate them before the first day of classes.
My plan is to hang them on the wall outside the classroom along with one I have made for myself.
Editor's Note: This great project could be easily modified for use during the year as well. In this scenario, the students could use the digital camera and do their own inserting and laminating. Great practice in using technology and the students would have a lot of fun as well.
