                    Building a science vocabulary

Take a good long scientific term that students would or should
     recognize and scramble the letters

TEACHER'S NOTE: you can do this on the board or actually give them
  the letters

print out the word in large type, make as many copies of the word
as you have students or groups and cut the letters apart, distribute
a set to each student or group.

The challenge for them is not only to unscramble the word - but to
build as many smaller words as they can.

If time allows you you can look at patterns of letters in words,
words related to your "big" word, etc.

TEACHER'S NOTE: If you are starting a new concept or subject - it can
be a great way to introduce it.
