Scope                         

This policy covers the destruction of all archived School Board records.

 

Purpose                                  

To outline the procedural requirements for identifying and disposing of surplus School Board records.

 

Policy Statement

It is the policy of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board that records surplus to the Board's requirements can only be destroyed in keeping with the provisions of the Education Act, the Income Tax Act, Regulations under these Acts and any other statutory authority relating thereto.

Authorization             

This policy has been authorized by the Board under motions number....., dated.....

 

Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the Secretary of the Board to implement this policy.

 

Implementation                     

This policy will be implemented by each Director/Coordinator for records maintained under their direct responsibility.

 

Procedures                            

A letter will be directed to the Board Secretary listing surplus records.  The Board Secretary will inspect records for destruction for compliance with statutory provisions.
