Scope                  

This policy governs Parent/Teacher days for all schools within the Board.

 

Purpose                             

To ensure that all schools provide consistent Parent/Teacher communication opportunities throughout the Regional Board.

 

Policy Statement           

It is the policy of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board that schools are permitted to use one half (1/2) day, up to three times per year, for parental visitations providing an evening session is held for the same purpose.

Authorization             

This policy has been authorized by the Board under motions number....

 

Responsibility            

It is the responsibility of the Director of Programs and Student Services to ensure that this policy and administrative procedures are implemented.

 

Implementation                     

The Coordinator of School Services will implement the policy and administrative procedures.

 

Procedures                

  1. The Principal of the school will schedule Parent/Teacher sessions in the school calendar year.
  2. Where a half-day session is held, an evening session of equal duration must also be scheduled.
  3. Each school will have a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of three (3) Parent/Teacher sessions. (P-12)
  4. Family of schools should coordinate Parent/Teacher sessions so parents are able to visit teachers in various schools.
