Scope                  

This policy covers smoke-free environments in or on School Board property.

 

Purpose                             

To provide consistent regulations to be followed on all School Board property at all times.

 

Policy Statement           

It is the policy of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board that the Board is committed to the promotion of good healthy environment and lifestyle for all students and employees.

Authorization             

This policy has been authorized by the Board under motions number....


          

Responsibility            

It is the responsibility of the Director of Programs and Student Services to ensure that this policy and administrative procedures are implemented.

 

Implementation                     

The Coordinator of School Services will implement the policy and administrative procedures.

 

Procedures                            

The following guidelines are assumed:

  1. A non-smoking environment shall exist in or on any properties under the jurisdiction of the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board.

  2. All personnel of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board shall be expected to respect this declaration even though they may not be employed in those areas.

  3. Organizations and persons using School Board property (e.g. community, school groups, etc.)  shall respect the smoke free environment inside the building at all times.

Policy Review            

This policy will be reviewed by Director of Programs and Student Services within three years from the authorization date.
