The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board calls for applications for the following administrative position: - Coordinator Race Relations, Cross-Cultural Understanding, Human Rights -RCH (One-Year)
By contract, only members currently part of the Board/Local NSTU Agreement may apply. Preference will be given to candidates who are African Nova Scotian. The new Admin Application must be submitted to Beth MacIsaac, Director of Human Resource Services, 275 George Street, Sydney, N.S., B1P 1J7 on or before 12:00 noon on Friday, September 10, 2010. Applicants must also include a complete resume with their application. Please phone (Mary MacNeil-562-6486) to ensure your application/resume has been received by the deadline. Application forms are available on the Board website (www.cbv.ns.ca) or may be picked up at the Human Resource Services Department, Central Office. Information : Notice to Parents/Guardians of Students Attending Oceanview Education Center

Information Session An information session will be held on Wednesday, September 1st, 6:30 P.M. at the Glace Bay Fire Hall for parents/guardians of students attending Oceanview Education center.
Schedule Due to construction delays Oceanview Education Centre will not be ready for occupancy for the beginning of the school term. Students will be attending the former St.Michael Jr. High on a temporary basis until work has been completed on the new facility. Parents/Guardians should note the changes in the school calendar for September for Oceanview students. Wednesday September 1st Reorganization/Management Day (Teachers Only) Thursday September 2nd Orientation Day (Teachers Only) Friday September 3rd Professional Development Day (Teachers Only) Tuesday September 7th First Teaching Day Students are asked to arrive for classes according to the following schedule 9:00 A.M. - Grade 7 Students Only 11:00 A.M. -- Grade 8 Students arrive 1:00 P.M. - Grade 9 Students arrive Bus Students: Students will be picked up following their regular scheduled runs as last year. Please note the following changes in pick up times for September 7th. Grade 7 Students : Regular scheduled times Grade 8 Students: Pickup will start at 10:30 A.M. Grade 9 Students: Pickup will start at 12:30 P.M. Students will dismiss at 2:40 P.M. and bus students will return home according to their regular bus schedule. On Wednesday, September 8th and everyday after, please refer to times as outlined in attached student transportation to Oceanview Education Centre. The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board calls for applications for the Coordinator of Human Resource Services effective August 1, 2010. By contract, only members currently part of the Board/Local NSTU Agreement may apply. Applications must be submitted to Beth MacIsaac, Director of Human Resource Services, 275 George Street, Sydney, N.S., B1P 1J7 on or before 3:00 PM on Monday, June 7, 2010. Applicants must also include a complete resume with their application. Minimum Qualifications: - Masters Degree in Educational Administration
- Successful experience in administration required
- Five years successful school teaching experience
- Excellent leadership, team building, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed decision making and creative problem-solving ability.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows Environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping. A competency test will be required.

 NEWS RELEASE April 16, 2010 CAPE BRETON-VICTORIA REGIONAL SCHOOL BOARD DIRECTOR AMBROSE WHITE RECEIVES VOLUNTEER AWARD FROM PROVINCE Sydney, NS - The 36th Annual Provincial Volunteer Awards Ceremony and Luncheon was held Monday, April 12th at the Westin Hotel, Halifax. More than 70 volunteers were honored for the tremendous contributions they have made to their communities and to the province. Approximately 70 volunteer representative awards will be presented along with four specialty awards. Representing the Cape Breton Regional Municipality was Ambrose White as one of its 2010 representative volunteers. Ambrose, Director of Operational Services, for the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board, spearheaded the establishment of the Greenfield Elementary School’s “After School Initiative Program”. He also served as president of the New Waterford Tennis Club for more than 20 years, coached soccer, baseball, basketball and hockey, and has served in executive positions for many of these sports. Ambrose is an active member of the New Waterford Wellness Committee, is a long time volunteer for the Annual Coal Bowl Classic and New Waterford Coal Dust Days. He has served as president of the Mount Carmel Auditorium Committee, and was a member of the former town of New Waterford’s Recreation Commission. His leadership skills help make his community a better place in which to live and grow. CAPE BRETON VICTORIA REGIONAL SCHOOL BOARD COMMUNITY EDUCATION ADULT EVENING CLASSES WINTER SCHEDULE 2010 The Community Education Department of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board offers programs for adults through their Adult High Schools and through Adult Evening Classes. The Adult Evening program offers classes in Computer Training, General Interest Courses, Grade 12 credit courses, and GED preparation.
