COORDINATOR OF HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES


The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board calls for applications for the Coordinator of Human Resource Services effective August 1, 2010.

By contract, only members currently part of the Board/Local NSTU Agreement may apply.

Applications must be submitted to Beth MacIsaac, Director of Human Resource Services, 275 George Street, Sydney, N.S., B1P 1J7 on or before 3:00 PM on Monday, June 7, 2010. Applicants must also include a complete resume with their application. New Admin Application forms are available on the Board website (www.cbv.ns.ca ) or may be picked up at the Human Resource Services Department, Central Office.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Educational Administration
  • Successful experience in administration required
  • Five years successful school teaching experience
  • Excellent leadership, team building, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed decision making and creative problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows Environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping. A competency test will be required.

SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

As the Superintendent of Schools, you will act as the Chief Executive Officer of the Regional School Board and have overall accountability for the efficient management and operation of the regional office and the public schools in the region–including program delivery, support services, financial administration, systems administration, technological innovation, management and supervision of all Board employees and relations with government, stakeholders, the public and the media. You will provide a link between the day-to-day administration of the Region and the Board Chair, and oversee the planning and development of the Board’s goals and priorities.

You have demonstrated the ability to integrate strategic thinking into operational plans and bring key stakeholders on-side. You are a person of vision who promotes innovation by setting challenging organizational targets and effectively managing resources. You understand how education is financed, and you have dealt with the impact of declining enrolment as it relates to program and student services delivery.

You are an effective communicator who has demonstrated a commitment to meaningful consultation, collaboration, and outstanding social awareness in a diverse cultural environment. As an ideal candidate–you should possess a Masters or Ph.D in Education (Education Administration preferred) or an equivalent education; a valid Teacher’s License/Certificate; ten years relevant experience in progressively more responsible leadership and management roles; experience as a Senior Official with a School Board; and a minimum of five years teaching and/or school-based administration experience. Additional training in Educational Management/Leadership would be an asset.

  • ·  Guidance Position, Grades 10-12, Breton Education Centre Term of position will be from September 1 to December 10, 2009

All vacant guidance positions will be available to the itinerant guidance school for transfers. Any remaining positions will be filled as follows:

  • First, to teachers with a Department-approved Master of Education in Guidance and/or Counselling;
  • Second, to teachers with a diploma in Education (Counselling) and enrolled in a Department-approved Master of Education in Guidance and/or Counselling.
