Superintendent's Report - Operational Services - Transportation - September 24, 2007

Transportation

The Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board passed a new walking policy in late May, 2007. Students from grades primary to six are walking 1 km to school or the nearest bus stop and students in grades 7-12 are walking 2.5 km to school or the nearest bus stop.

Transportation investigated several cases and changes were made based on the issue of student safety. The issues are usually busy intersections with out crossing guards or no sidewalks. The policy implementation is working out very well.

All the bus drivers attended an in-service in September and the year got off to a successful start.
