Superintendent's Report - Human Resource Services -November 26, 2007

On Wednesday November 21st, Vic Hanham, Sharon Johnston and Kathy Coleman attended the second Violence in The Workplace Seminar. The session was facilitated by Allan White on behalf of the NSCC, Marconi Campus. The afternoon began with an overview of the Violence in the Workplace Regulations under the OH&S Act. Topics covered during the workshop were: developing a Workplace Violence Prevention Statement, creating and carrying out a Violence Risk Assessment of the workplace(s), determining the Violence Risk (from the Assessment) and finally creating a Violence Prevention Plan for the specific workplace.



SAP - HR/Payroll


We are nearing the end of the first full calendar year under the new HR/Payroll system. It has been a year that has required a lot of time, effort, and patience from all employees. Our Central Office staff are now busy in preparation for end of year reporting which will result in the production of our T4s and T4As. Unlike previous years, these will not be produced at our office, but will be mailed directly to employees from Halifax.


Substitute Placement System (Sps)/aesop


The provincial SPS committee will meet in Truro on December 4, 2007, to finalize the contract with Frontline Technologies. In addition, the planning for in-servicing of staff and proposed implementation dates for each Board will also be discussed.
