Human Resource Services

Professional Development

Professional Development for support staff for 2007-2008 has been a focus of employee wellness. The secretarial classification, as well as all cleaning staff, has participated in professional development that has focused on healthy eating and exercise. In addition, all participants in the wellness days were provided with pedometers to encourage walking activities.

Our next major initiative in the area of employee wellness will be the formation of a Principal′s Wellness committee. Interested members of school administration at both the elementary and secondary level will be invited to form the basis of a committee that will initially focus on Principal wellness but then provide a template for initiatives that can be school based.

Several successful professional development activities were held on Feb 5, 2008 at various sites throughout the Board. Feedback from the participants was positive and included: ‘All three presentations were great’; ‘Had a great day’; ‘Excellent presentation- interesting, lively and useful’; and ‘one of the best in-services ever.’
