University Advisory Committees

The Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board has representation on the Advisory Committees at St. Francis Xavier University, Mount St Vincent University and Cape Breton University.  These partnerships with the education faculty at these universities allow school boards and the education departments of the universities to work closely together to ensure that pre-service teachers are well-prepared and knowledgeable in current education initiatives.  Through these committees, school boards have opportunities to identify the areas of need for teachers, which helps universities decide where they allot seats, example:  French, Math, Fine Arts, and Science.  Through collaboration with boards, universities also seek input into areas of need and interest for action research topics that university faculty may consider which will support boards.  During the 208-2009 school year, we have pre-service teachers from:

St. F. X. University 24
University of Prince Edward Island9
University of Fort Kent43
CBU/MUNS33
Acadia University7
University of New Brunswick7
University of Presque Isle1
University of St. Anne9
Memorial University1
