· Superintendent Davis discussed with the Board some budget cuts which will affect the school year 2009-2010. It was noted that changes are forthcoming with considerations to reducing staff, limiting support for some student services, textbooks and other expenditure reductions.
· Board Chair, Lorne Green, informed the Board that he attended a meeting with the Whitney Pier Youth Group. Mr. Green outlined the services provided by the Whitney Pier Youth Centre in conjunction with the schools in the Whitney Pier area. He noted that a breakfast program, lunch program and an after school program are presented offered. He also recognized the hard work and dedication which is provided by the youth group Director, Chester Borden.
· Regional Educational Services Director, Jim Burton, informed the Board that Lieutenant Governor Mayann Francis will be at Cabot High School on June 10 to present the Lieutenant Governor’s medals.
· In light of the economic times, a committee of senior staff and board members have been directed by the Board to conduct a cost/benefit analysis regarding the Board’s continued involvement as a member of the Nova Scotia School Boards Association.
