Highlights of the Regular Board Meeting

  • Dr. Davis informed the Board that in cooperation with the Regional Health Services, students and staff have been notified of additional hygiene steps that could help prevent the spread of germs leading to the H1N1 influenza. A list of good health habits have been posted in all our schools and facilities.
  • Board Chair, Lorne Green, thanked senior staff for their hard work on behalf of the Board during budget deliberations.
  • The Board discussed the provincial review announced by Education Minister, Judy Streatch, regarding chronic student absenteeism and other issues affecting the learning environment of Nova Scotia schools. The committee that was struck will proceed with an internal review, and present its report to the Education Minister before the new school year. There will be an opportunity for public input during the process.
  • Dr. Davis informed the Board that the update on the Board’s Strategic Plan is progressing with anticipation of completion by November, 2009.
