|SPECIAL BOARD MEETING|
(1) CALL TO ORDER:
A Special Board meeting of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board was called to order today beginning at 5:05 p.m.

(3) ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA:
(4) STAFFING – NSTU:
The staffing procedure which has occurred since May 11, 2009 was reviewed by Mr. Davis, Superintendent of Schools. It was noted that further to the meeting held last spring another meeting was held on September 14th with recommendations brought forward by the Human Resources Department which were presented and approved.
Mrs. Beth MacIsaac, Director of Human Resources began the session with a review of the administrative allotment for the vice-principal for Harbourside Elementary. It was noted that an error occurred due to the fluctuating primary number back in the spring. The enrollment had actually been 383 in the spring of 2009.

Seconded by Commissioner Currie
That the administrative allotment for Harbourside Elementary be increased by .6 to provide the school with a 100% vice principal allotment. . .
Mrs. Mary Passerini, Coordinator of Human Resources presented a review of schools within the system which may require some assistance with staffing. Lengthy discussions ensued regarding the needs of students within the Board and the assistance which the Board is able to provide.

That the Board approve the following recommendation which was presented by Human Resources and Senior staff:
Mira Road Elementary – increase of 60% teacher position
John Bernard Croak Elementary – increase of 60% teacher position
Tompkins Elementary – increase of 60% position

Seconded by Commissioner Margettie
that the 1.9 positions remaining in the budget be used to support schools in our system with resources and to target those sites which have multi-grading. . .
