Highlights of the Regular Board Meeting
May 31, 2010 - Memorial High School

  • Dr. Davis stated that the storms of economic discontent are again at our doorstep. He pointed out again that the successes over the past number of years were a team effort, achieved through the leadership of a strong and effective school board; a sophisticated team at Central Office; the support of a loyal hard-working staff, as well as grateful and supportive parents and guardians. The recipient of this force enabled students to succeed and enjoy the harvest of these efforts. Dr. Ed Davis thanked the Board for their continued support over the years. He also thanked the team efforts of Central Office staff – he stated, “a team more passionate, hard working, dedicated, and talented cannot be found anywhere.” Dr. Davis’ full report can be found on the Board website at www.cbv.ns.ca.
  • A letter was sent to Darrell Youden, Department of Education, advising them of the Board’s intention to sustain Holy Angels High. It was requested that the Department of Education begin to articulate the process.
  • It was agreed by the Board to have senior staff review the staffing enrollment at Jubilee Elementary School as presented by their SAC representatives, before a final decision is made on the staffing reduction.
  • Acting Board Chair Fred Tilley recognized the contribution Dr. Davis has made throughout his career with the Board, and noted that throughout his years he maintained his humor and wonderful personality. Dr. Davis received a standing ovation from the Board, staff and members of the audience.
