(1) CALL TO ORDER:


A Special Board meeting of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School board was called to order today beginning at 5:00 p.m.

(3) AUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENT:


Commissioner MacKinnon presented the report of the Audit Committee. Mr. Lorne Perry of Roach Perry Anderson reviewed the Financial Statements as of March 31, 2006. It was noted that the Board will record a surplus of $2,386,522.

Mr. Bernie MacKinnon, Coordinator of Human Resources reviewed the status of the NSTU summer hires. Interviewing will be conducted over the next three days. Anyone who has received a term, long-term substitute position or have been with the Board for two years or more will receive an interview. The exception to the rule will be anyone who has French, Fine Arts or any other area where a shortage may occur.

(21) USE OF SCHOOL FACILITIES:

Mr. Don Matheson, Director of Operational Services, distributed a report with regards to the various sports groups using school gyms for the 2005-2006 school year was distributed. It was noted that 50% of the monies goes to the school.

(22) HIRING OF SUMMER STUDENTS:

A report was distributed by Mr. Don Matheson, Director of Operational Services, with regards to the hiring of summer students for the summer of 2006.
